The Third Rail- Fo4
You enter the bottom of the MA State House in Goodneighbor. You approach a ghoul dressed in a tuxedo and fedora. His name is Ham and he is the bouncer. He lets you in.
As you walk down the stairs of this old, refurbished subway, you notice the candles lit on the sides of each step on the way down. It generates heat, but it is cool enough underground that it is actually comforting. The warm glow is also nice.
Once you reach the bottom, you are greeted with a thin cloud of cigarette smoke. The air smells of must and old rusty metal. The scent of liquor drifts into your nose as well. It is one large room, with the subway tunnels boarded up. Off to the right side is a hallway, lit up in red. Above it is a neon sign that reads "VIP Room". To the left is a darkened corner and a metal-grate barrier, hiding the kitchen/storage room. Along the wall farthest from the entrance is a long bar. People sit on stools at this bar, drinking various alcoholic beverages. THey are being served by a Mr. Handy wearing a bowler hat, with a small UK sticker on its side. His name is Whitechapel Charlie, and he runs this establishment. With his thick cockney accent, he takes people's drink orders.
There are mismatched wooden and metal tables throughout the bar, with mismatched chairs. On the right side of the room are several couches and a coffee table. On it are some ashtrays with cigarettes, and bottles of alcohol and glasses. Several people are lounging on the couches, and some sit at the tables. One table appears to be playing poker quietly. Or maybe it's a different card game.
You hear the speaker begin to play a slow jazzy tune. In the back left corner is a makeshift small stage, with a bright light facing it. Several nondescript neon signs are the backdrop. A woman in a shiny red dress takes the stage. She grabs the mic and begins singing in a soft voice. Some of the patrons look up from their seats and enjoy the singing stylings of The Third Rail's resident entertainer, Magnolia.
