The Great War of 2077
October 23, 2077. The day of the Great War. As you sit at the kitchen table eating breakfast, planning your day, you hear the news anchor deliver the bad news. The war is here and everyone is in danger. Chaos ensues. You and your family look outside and see your neighborhood running in the streets. At the end of the road are several men in army uniforms as well as a tank blocking the exit from sanctuary hills. What was once a normal fall day has suddenly become the end of the world.
Distant sirens deafen your ears as neighbors run into the woods behind your house. Your family grabs their coats and follows the crowd to the newly built vault on the hill. You turn and say your goodbyes to your robot butler, and run outside. Several of your neighbors are packing their bags in their car, as others stand and wait for the inevitable. You run toward the vault and are enveloped by the screams echoing all around you.
The birds continue to chirp and the wind blows through the orange leaves, while the fall sun beats down. You smell the fresh air, possibly for the last time. Then you hear the sound of explosions.
