The Forgotten City
You can hear the cry of the planet. It is aching, soft, and eternal. You lie awake in this house filled with whispers and wonder how it all came down to this. Your companions sleep soundly beside you, lulled into dreams by the clear and resonant knell of nature's bells. No word of man could ever be so pure.
Outside, an ancient lake stirs disapprovingly, throwing its waters against the shore as if you are not quite welcome here. Trees of crystal limbs tremble quietly, wizened and and watchful in their old age. Among them, dreamless creatures call out--knowing and fearful and anxious.
She is here. You can feel it.
