The fiery roar of the drop pod faded, leaving the chilled caverns to slowly swallow the echo.. You had missed the extraction by a minute, and the company had done what they had threatened to do: leave with or without you.
Now there was nothing but hollow silence to keep you company, the dull intermittent ring of the glowing crystals wandering the darkened passages like ghosts. Luckily, you had been a good dwarf, and had looked ahead to the coordinates of the next mission in this zone. You had three days to reach the landing zone, and you hoped your journey would be a quiet one.
But at the moment, it was sandwich time.
