A Tavern in Winterhold
It's the Third Era, prior to the Great Collapse, and Winterhold is still a bustling city of the Hold with the same name. The Tavern is full of adventurers, such as yourself, seeking food, drink, and shelter from the harsh winds and fauna of the wilderness. They gather nearest to the crackling fire to fight the biting cold that works its way through the wooden walls (which have been licked by the salty, sea air).
You hear contented chatter and clinks of glass on wood from the others, but you sit alone in the corner, with a hot meal and cold ale, and listen to the ominous sounds of the approaching thunder; you wonder whether it's natural, or perhaps caused by the Mages at the College not far from where you sit. Wolves, desperate for food in the bitter cold, howl nearby--no doubt drawn to the creek that flows near the Tavern.
